“Sullivan’s Crossing” star Morgan Cohan has addressed the possibility that Maggie and Cal may break up after kissing her estranged husband Liam.
Cohan, 32, spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about the breakup on the Monday, June 1, episode of the hit CW show. “That would completely shake up the foundations of any relationship.”
Cohan went on to say, “No matter how solid you are, and probably the more solid you are, it’s hard[to get over it]. I think Cal and Maggie should be that way, so I have hope for them.”
Season 3 of Sullivan’s Crossing, which premiered on Netflix in August 2025, initially alluded to Maggie’s ex-boyfriend when she named Liam (Marcus Rosner) as her summer fling.
Liam eventually showed up with Maggie’s boyfriend Cal (Chad Michael Murray) prior to season 4, learning that she was actually married to Liam.
In season 4, Maggie becomes even more confused when she realizes she’s getting closer to Liam. After learning that he did not abandon her for his job, but was actually held hostage for three years as a battlefield journalist, Maggie and Liam share an unexpected kiss.

“I feel like it wasn’t necessarily a decision for her. Something very physical happened and she fell through the floor and went, ‘Can I breathe?’ and it hit her whole body. It completely broke her heart,” Cohan explained. “It was like everything she had been holding in for a long time. It all broke her heart.”
Cohan hinted at an “inevitability” regarding Maggie and Liam’s feelings resurfacing. Although the actress couldn’t tease how the love triangle will end, she expressed “hope” that fans will be satisfied and that Rosner can return for more seasons.
“Everyone on set loves Marcus, so we would love to do a version where Marcus is around in some way,” she said. “We’ll see how it goes, but I’m happy with how much it’s moving people, even though it’s going to be tough for some audiences.”
Looking to the future, Cohan hopes to have more opportunities to learn about Maggie’s life before returning to The Crossing.
“What I really liked about it all was being able to do the flashbacks and really see a younger version of Maggie,” she gushed to Us. “I really liked watching her completely let go and just engage with what was happening in front of her.”
Sullivan’s Crossing is currently streaming on Netflix. Season 4 airs Mondays at 8pm ET on The CW.
