Chrissy Teigen is mourning the sudden death of her father, Ron.
“Last night I woke up with my dad and went to bed without him,” Teigen, 40, wrote on Instagram on Wednesday, June 10, alongside a video of her 86-year-old father. “Everything the same thing happened. I took a quick shower. I picked up a stuffed dog toy. I answered a few emails. I avoided some. I laughed with a friend, wore a cute dress to a friend’s birthday. I took a video. How cute is this dress! And my dad just the same…fucking died.”
Her emotional caption continued, “Since we talked about this, I’ve accepted that he’s always been an ‘old dad’ so I wouldn’t have fallen to the ground the same way. I’ve been thinking about this call for years. I’m ready.”
Teigen recalled recently writing her father “a letter just saying how grateful I am” after being away for a week.
“(I) wrote about how hard he worked to help us grow and how much I loved him. I am forever grateful for the moment I handed him the letter and for all the years leading up to it,” she wrote. “For those of you who didn’t know my dad, he hated bass guitars, swing dancing, wood carving, animals, YouTube, and just about everything in the world outside of his family. I have hundreds of videos of him just getting mad at things he didn’t do, watch, or eat. They make me so happy right now.”
Teigen concluded, “God, I love you so much. I talk to you every night. Thank you for being a great dad. Until I complain again 🤍🤍🤍.”
In the attached video, Ron sits at a table and discusses his opinions on salmon. “Salmon this, salmon that,” he said, laughing in the background. “I caught so much salmon that I’ll never touch salmon again.”
Teigen elaborated on the clip in the comments section, writing, “This video is about my dad raising me in the Pacific Northwest. He absolutely loved it, but he hated salmon.”

Among the many messages of support from fellow social media users was one from Teigen’s husband, John Legend.
“We love Papa Ron very much,” he commented. “I’m so happy you got to spend so much time with your grandpas. I loved seeing you smile and be so proud of the beautiful family you’ve built. 🤍🤍🤍🤍”
The 47-year-old legend announced Thursday that several upcoming concerts will be rescheduled due to a death in his family.
“To all the fans in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Pine Bluff, Arkansas,” he wrote on his Instagram Story. I was so looking forward to joining you for an evening of songs and stories this weekend, but there has been a death in the family and I need to be at home with my family. ”
He said the performance would be rescheduled for August, adding: “We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
