If Sylvester Stallone’s Tulsa King returns in season 5, there will be a major relocation.
Before Paramount+ announced the official renewal, Variety reported that the writers’ room for Season 5 of Tulsa King had opened. Despite being mostly filmed in Atlanta, the show will undergo changes by moving the location to New York.
The outlet claimed that the decision was made considering both budget and storyline. As New York City increases its film tax incentive program for the second time in the past three years, Tulsa King has taken formal action.
The potential for change comes after the Tulsa King faces some challenges behind the scenes. The Paramount+ series started with Terrence Winter as showrunner alongside Taylor Sheridan. When Tulsa King was renewed for a second season, Winter stepped down as showrunner, citing creative differences, but returned as the series’ head writer.
Sheridan did not take on the role of showrunner for Season 2, choosing instead to hire a director and executive producer to oversee day-to-day production.
For season 3, Dave Erickson joined the show as showrunner. By season four, Tulsa King went into production without a showrunner, relying on 101 Studios executive producer Scott Stone to oversee day-to-day programming while Winter returned as a writer.

The Tulsa King isn’t the only one making moves on screen.
News broke in May that Tracker would be moving to Los Angeles, receiving the largest California tax credit for the franchise to date. According to Deadline, the hit CBS series starring Justin Hartley will relocate from Vancouver, where the first three seasons were filmed. The company’s studio, 20th Television, is currently locking down its production facilities in and around Los Angeles.
Season 4 filming is scheduled to begin in late June with a $48 million tax credit.
“I’m proud of what we’ve built in Vancouver, and I’m also very excited to bring Tracker to Los Angeles,” Hartley, 49, said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to tell these stories with new and fresh places we go next. Most importantly, we want to thank our fans for showing up for us every step of the way. We couldn’t do this without you.”
Mr Hartley has since broken his silence on the change.
“I don’t think it affects the show at all in terms of tone and character,” he told The Wrap in May. “Our show is a roadshow. Our character travels from town to town across America, meeting people from all walks of life and helping them. These strangers become like his family in a way.”
The actor expressed his excitement about moving to Los Angeles.
“We can go to places like New York, D.C., the desert, Texas, the beach, to be able to shoot in different locations that give us different landscapes,” Hartley said. “It just expands our world in terms of scenery, and that’s a big feature of our show.”
