In “Land of Fire,” cast members and showrunners have left the project due to budget cuts, but which cast members will or will not return in season 5?
The CBS series, which first aired in 2022, introduced inmate Bode (Max Thieriot) to the town of Edgewater after he returns home and begins volunteering with the California Conservation Camp program. By season two, the backdoor pilot had built the world of Sheriff Country. This world centers around Sharon’s (Diane Farr) estranged sister Mickey (Morena Baccarin), who solves crimes in town.
Fire Country then underwent a shocking upheaval when Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcilla left the show in season 3 due to budget cuts.
“This is a fire show. Anyone can join at any time,” showrunner Tia Napolitano exclusively told Us Weekly in October 2025. “But in terms of losing people, we’re also adding a really fun guest cast. It’s a revolving door of people from Sharon’s past and new faces, and it’s exciting to bring in conflicts and secrets and twists and turns.”
Napolitano teased that the show had to balance a “fine line” between “really adding spice” and mourning the loss at the same time.
“What we’ve done is thread the needle of specifically honoring Vince. Gabriella has passed away, but she lived a happy and successful life. She’s still there. But we’re really walking this path of finding hope pretty quickly while honoring Vince,” she said. “Looking forward, this season’s theme is rising and recovering from the ashes.”
Napolitano continued, “How do you recover from something like this? And you’re really going to see everyone rise to the occasion, celebrating Vince, celebrating his life, honoring the sacrifices he made.”
Characters continued to come and go on the show until news broke that Napolitano would be leaving after four seasons. Keep scrolling to find out who’s coming back for season 5 and who’s not.
